Le premier rasta

Director : Hélène Lee

At the beginning of the last century, Leonard Percival Howell (1893 – 1981) left Jamaica as a sailor to travel the world. He came back home in 1939 to launch the very first Rasta community, the Pinnacle. Thirty years after Bob Marley’s death, it was timely to pay homage to Howell, the first Rasta whose rhetoric about revolution, politics and social issues resonated with today’s anti-globalisation movements.
